THE Port of Tilbury was proud to host the Essex Royal British Legion Conference on Saturday (12 January) at the London Cruise Terminal. Over a 100 people from Royal British Legions across Essex came to a very informative conference that had a focus on diversity, inclusion and collaboration.
Lucy Harris from The Tilbury on the Thames Trust updated the conference about the Attention to Logistics programME that is focused on getting veterans back into work in partnership with The Ports Logistics Academy, The Royal British Legion, RFEA and Millwall Community Trust.
In what has been a very important year for the Royal British Legion marking the centenary of the First World World War the conference heard about some of the amazing people and projects that were focused on education and remembrance, in schools with some very innovative and outcomes.
An engaging display was also set up of items related to the World Wars from postcards sent from the trenches to medals, books and games, that are part of a travelling exhibition that the Royal British Legion take into Essex Schools.
The Port of Tilbury and the Tilbury on the Thames Trust were honoured to receive certificates in recognition for their support for the Royal British Legion and look forward to further collaboration and support in 2019.
