A NEW pay and play session designed to promote social, physical and mental wellbeing among infants and pre-schoolers has launched at The Civic Hall in Grays.
Mighty Mites is a parent and toddler drop-in session offering a variety of fun, fitness equipment including inflatables, soft play, bikes and trikes in the comfort of a heated hall.
Catering for infants through to five year olds, the sessions provide the ideal environment for little ones to play and have fun while developing their physical, mental and communication skills in a safe environment. A special Fitness Zone provides information and activities that both parents and children can take part in to boost their physical activity and coordination.
British children are among the most inactive in the world. Recent research by BALPPA, the association representing indoor play centre operators, showed that children using indoor play facilities meet or exceed the government’s recommended daily target for physical activity. The findings were true of all children who were studied, regardless of age, ability, size, gender or level of fitness and also whether they were playing alone or with friends.
Jack Donovan, General Manager, says: “Our new Mighty Mites sessions provide a much-needed service for families in Thurrock. They are the ideal way to keep children entertained while building physical activity into their lives from a young age.”
Mighty Mites take place every Friday at the Civic Hall in Grays from 9.15am to 12.45pm. Discounts are available for Impulse Leisure members.
