PARENTS of Year 6 students in Thurrock were offered their child’s secondary school places on Friday 1 March. 82% of parents were offered their first or second preference.
This year more places were required and successfully created for September 2019 to ensure all Thurrock children were offered a school place.
The council has worked in partnership with schools across the borough to create additional secondary school paces for September 2019 to meet this demand, ahead of the Department of Education (DfE) and the Education Skills Funding Agency (ESFA) delivering two free schools in September 2020.
Together with partners, Thurrock Council is intending to create over 3,500 new school places across the borough in coming years to meet the increased demand for school places.
