Grays man jailed for theft and failing to sign sex offence register following release from jail

A GRAYS man has been jailed after a series of thefts and failure to register as a sex offender after leaving prison.

Joshua Wiggins, aged 21, of Schoolfield Way, Grays pled guilty at Basildon magistrates court to the following.

1. On March 27th, 2019, at Grays, stole clothing, to the value of £225.00, belonging to House of Fraser, Lakeside Shopping Centre.

2. Whilst working with another, on March 11th, 2019 at Stanford-le-Hope, having entered as a trespasser part of a building, namely behind the counter of the Kiosk, at the Co Op Store, Stanford-Le-Hope, stole therein two bottles of Vodka to the value of £70.00.

3. Conviction of an offence while a community order made by South Essex on 07/02/2019 for the offences of Fail to comply with notification requirements, Theft of Cycle x 3 is in force.

4. Between 13/03/2018 and 15/03/2018 at Grays, being a relevant offender within the terms of section 80 of the Sexual Offences Act 2003, failed without reasonable excuse to comply with the notification requirements as provided by Part 2 of that Act in that you failed to register at a Police Station within three days of being released from prison.

Wiggins was jailed for one month and fined £115.00
