HELP IMPROVE THE LIVES OF PEOPLE LIVING WITH DEMENTIA
Dementia Action Week 2019 [https://www.alzheimers.org.uk/get-involved/dementia-action-week] takes place between Monday 20 and Sunday 26 May.
THURROCK Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) is part of Thurrock Dementia Action Alliance. Over the next week the CCG will be promoting ways to take action on dementia.
Irene Lewsey, Head of Transformation, said: “Almost all of us know someone affected by dementia – a family member, a friend, a neighbour or a colleague. This Dementia Action Week, find out more about how our communities, as well as ourselves as individuals, can adapt to make improvements to the lives of those of us living with dementia.”
People living with dementia often report feeling cut off from their community, the breakdown of friendships and a general feeling that they are facing the condition alone.
We can all take action to create more supportive environments to support those with dementia. One of the best ways we can all help is to take the time to visit someone we know who has dementia. The Alzheimer’s Society has developed a booklet that gives tips on having a conversation with a person with dementia. Click the link below to download:
