Amazon in Tilbury supports local cricket team with £1,000 donation

THE Amazon fulfilment centre in Tilbury has made a £1,000 donation to Orsett and Thurrock Cricket Club.

Orsett and Thurrock Cricket Club is an amalgamated club that welcomes members from across the community. The donation was used to purchase new kit and equipment for the girls’ U11 and U13 teams, who both go by the name the Amazons. To celebrate the donation, the local Amazon team made a visit to the club.

Sertac Yilmaz, General Manger at Amazon in Tilbury, said: “It’s a pleasure to support Orsett and Thurrock Cricket Club with this donation. Our team had a great time during the visit to the club and it’s brilliant to see young people so passionate about sport.”

Terry Hills, Chairman of Orsett and Thurrock Cricket Club added: “It was a great surprise to receive this donation from the local fulfilment centre in Tilbury and we are thrilled that we could purchase new kits for the team. The players certainly look the part and their kit is commented on by every opposition team that we play. It was wonderful have the Amazon team visit and learn about our club. On behalf of everyone at Orsett and Thurrock Cricket Club, I would like to say a huge thank you to Sertac and the team at Amazon Tilbury for their support.”

The donation forms part of the ‘Amazon in the Community’ programme whereby the company supports the communities around its operating locations across the UK.
