ROCKS put an end to Leatherhead’s seven game winning run in this entertaining encounter at the Grayers Graphics Stadium.

The Rocks started the best as first leading marksman Frankie Merrifield fired a rasping drive just over, and then Tanners keeper Zaki Oualah produced a great double save, first denying Darren Foxley, and then getting down to save from livewire Mitchell Gilbey as he followed up.

Leatherhead weathered the early storm and settled into the game, but the home side were not to be denied, and took the lead on 25 minutes. Some great play by Gilbey cutting in from the right, set up Merrifield who in one movement turned, and fired past Oualah.

Gilbey looked set to double Rocks lead early in the second half, breaking through a square back line, but Oualah came to the Tanners rescue with a good block.

The Tanners finally got it together going forward, and on 75 minutes Chinedu McKenzie fired an effort against the crossbar. Then Rocks keeper Jack Giddens had to go full length to save from Gregory.

However, East Thurrock wrapped up the win with two late goals, as first Foxley blocked a clearance and ran on to score on his first Rocks goal after 88 minutes, then in added time Merrifield forced an error from Oualah to score into an empty net.
