University students attend industry expert masterclasses for Industry Week
UNIVERSITY Centre South Essex students were given masterclasses in their field from guest speakers and professionals as part of Industry Week.
The event, held across the Southend campus, gave students the chance to attend workshops held by industry professionals to help with their development.
Industry Week saw a variety of artists, art directors and creatives work with students to deliver creative sessions and motivational talks.
The specialist guest presentations were delivered by Andy Peel from the Young Creative Council, Jennifer Kidd, Chrissy Levett CEO of Creative Conscience, James Lester from Ifour Creative Agency, Natalka from Natalka Design Agency, Tina Gverovic who represented Croatia at the 57th Venice Biennale, Lucy Player the Creative Director for Wolf & Player, David Wheeler from ASBO magazine and Marc Newton from the School of Photography and David Blandy sponsored by Focal Point Gallery. Abi Thompson, Programme Partnership Manager for the Creative Division, said: “The HE Creative Portfolio hosted a fantastic Industry Week involving a range of high end masterclasses and specialist guest speaker presentations. “These experiences provide our HE students with valuable skills and knowledge to be able to progress into their chosen industry.”
One student said “It was a great opportunity to meet industry professionals and we learnt a lot about how they got into their industry as well as put our skills to the test with a creative workshop.”
