ESSEX Police are at the scene of a serious collision on the A127 westbound near Laindon and are asking drivers to avoid the area.
A spokesperson said: “We were called shortly after 6pm tonight, Sunday 2 February, to reports of a collision involving a Mini and a parked lorry in a layby near the Fortune of War roundabout.
“The Mini driver, a man, has been taken to hospital with serious injuries.
Drivers are asked to avoid the London-bound A127 and to use the A13 as an alternative route while we carry out forensic examination work.
Witnesses who saw what happened are asked to contact 101 quoting incident 897 of Sunday 2 February.
