RESIDENTS in Thurrock are invited to have their business ideas turned into reality thanks to another Thurrock Soup event taking place on Wednesday 19 February 2020 from 6pm to 9pm, at the Community House, Grays, RN17 6DR.

Thurrock Soup is a series of events to inspire social enterprise and business ideas from the local community.

Attendees pay £5 for a bowl of soup and a roll, to enjoy while networking before the business pitches begin. Everyone is then asked to vote on their favourite idea and the winning entry receives the money collected from the soup donations to use towards starting up their social enterprise business.

Cllr Deborah Huelin, Cabinet Member for Communities, said: “Thurrock Soup is about investing in the future social entrepreneurs in our borough. Members of the public are invited to come along and pitch an idea for a social enterprise business or to be in the audience and vote on who should win the funding.

“The last Thurrock Soup event saw 50 people in attendance with £250 raised for the winner. This is a great opportunity for a local business idea to get the small boost they need to get started, making a big contribution to the local community. In total Thurrock Soup events have raised over £1,250 for business start-ups in Thurrock.”
