FOLLOWING the news on Monday, a second Thurrock Primary School has notified parents they may have a connection with a person who has contracted coronavirus.
Mr Eugene Samuel, head of Purfleet Primary Academy, wrote to parents on Wednesday informing them that a member of an external service that works at the school has presented with a symptom.
That person is currently self-isolated. Public Health England have said there is little risk to children and staff and their advice was not to close the school.
Mr Samuel says: “At Purfleet Primary Academy our number one priority is the well-being of our pupils and staff.
“We recognise this is a worrying time for everyone, but I wanted to reassure you that we will continue to follow the advice and guidance issued by Public Health England and we will remain in close contact with you.”
Despite that message, YT understands a few parents have withdrawn their children from school.
