THE number of positive COVID-19 cases throughout the country now stands at 5,683.
Locally it was announced yesterday (March 22) that the number of coronavirus patients in Essex has now risen to 71, according to the latest figures from Public Health England.
The newest figures show a jump of 10 from Saturday evening, when the Department of Health and Social Care confirmed that the total stood at 61.
The latest numbers showed there were 53 in Essex County Council district, along with a further 10 in Thurrock and eight in Southend-on-Sea.
