Business Crime Unit – Emergency Keyholders Contact List

DUE to the government guidance around COVID19, the Essex Business Crime Team are aware that many business premises will be left unattended and locked-up as employees work from home.

The business crime team are compiling an ‘Emergency Keyholders Contact List’ that can be kept at their Force Control Room. Keeping such a list will enable them to quickly make contact with any victim of crime, where a premises has been damaged or broken into for example.

If you feel this will help you then there are instructions below on how you can participate:

Please forward the following details to business.crime.unit@essex.police.uk

Contact Name of the keyholder

Their position within the company / the security team they work for if appropriate
A telephone number
A home address
This information will only be kept for the duration of this national crisis. Data will be put into a format that can be utilised by the Police Force Control Room.

Once guidance has been received from the government that restrictions can be lifted and people can return to a more normal life, the business team will encrypt the information and delete it in line with GDPR. The Business Crime team will notify you when this happens.

If any further clarification is needed please seek guidance directly by emailing business.crime.unit@essex.police.uk
