It’s Volunteer Recognition Day – how to support Thurrock Coronavirus Community Action

TODAY (Monday 20th April) is Volunteer Recognition Day and Thurrock Council are saying a big thank you to all of volunteers who have supported the Thurrock Coronavirus Community Action partnership.

Over 400 volunteers have signed up to support the partnership donating 2,000 hours so far – 500 of which are in Grays alone.

TCCA is a partnership led by the council, Stronger Together and Thurrock CVS, working with local organisations to safely coordinate support and volunteers.

Their aim is to provide help for those most in need during the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak and to help residents who

– have received a text or letter from the NHS about ‘shielding’
– are at very high risk due to underlying health conditions
– must stay at home and self-isolate for 12 weeks
– do not have friends or family who can help

‘Shielding’ means protecting people who are extremely vulnerable by helping them keep all contact with others to a minimum.

If you have received a text or letter from the NHS about shielding, you should follow the link below and sign-up for support. Vlunteers will then get in touch and talk with you about the help you need.

Please go to the following link www.thurrock.gov.uk/forms/thurrock-coronavirus-community-action

Help is also available for people who have not been contacted about shielding but who need extra support at this time. We can help with access to:

– food
– medicines
– social contact

If you or someone you know is vulnerable – without friends or family to help – and in need of help with food, medicine or other vital support, please fill in the form (via the link above)

If you are interested in volunteering to help residents by joining Thurrock Coronavirus Community Action, you can register your details with Stronger Together at the following website address www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/LPF8BS8
