Eight cases of coronavirus in Thurrock confirmed in last 24 hours – total now 244

EIGHT cases of coronavirus have been confirmed in the the last 24 hours in the area covered by Thurrock Borough Council, according to the latest figures from Public Health England today (23 April).

This brings the total number of confirmed cases in the borough to 244.

According to the latest figures here are 2,069 confirmed cases in the Essex County Council region and 266 in the Southend-on-Sea area.

In Essex, it has been confirmed sadly 57 patients have died with the coronavirus in the last 24 hours.

Sadly, this brings the confirmed total of patients who have died with the virus in the county to 1,132.

Two patients at Basildon and Thurrock University Hospital were confirmed to have tragically died with the coronavirus in the last 24 hours.

The total number of coronavirus-related deaths at the hospital now stands at 203, meaning the hospital has been the second-worst hit with the virus in the Anglia region.

Please be aware that at this stage, figures only take into coronavirus-related hospital deaths and no official figures have been released for other parts of the community, such as care homes.
