Thurrock foodbank said on their Facebook page (23 April): “Big thank you to Victoria Straker and all who donated to her whip round for Thurrock Foodbank, she raised an amazing £500 and with the help of Tesco at Lakeside and Ellie who allowed Victoria to buy more than the current restrictions, went on a spending spree for us.

“Thank you to S&J Self Drive Hire for donating the use of one of their vans for the shop. We are truly grateful to Victoria and all who contributed in any way, we are humbled by your generosity and support for our work, many, many thanks.”

On Monday (20 April) they took the opportunity to thank brownie Jessica, who made a card (pictured below) thanking the volunteers:

“Today we had a lovely surprise at the warehouse when Jessica, her little brother Xander and mum Jo dropped off some food. Jessica is a Brownie and for her charity badge she collected the food and some money for Thurrock Foodbank.

“Jessica also gave us a lovely card she had made to thank our volunteers for their hard work. Well done Jessica, thank you to you and your family for the food and money and for the great card which is on display in the warehouse for all to see.”
