Fire at development at back of Bannatynes in Chafford Hundred

2100 hrs

Firefighters were called to the scene of a derelict building fire. As the fire could be seen from the A13 our Control staff took over 60 calls to it.

On arrival crews reported that the building, which measures around 40 metres x 15 metres, was completely alight.

Crews extinguished the fire by 8pm and stayed on site to continue dampening down the area to ensure it was completely cool.

An investigation to establish the cause of the fire will now take place.

Firefighters were called to the scene of a derelict building fire.

On arrival crews reported that the building, which measures around 40 metres x 15 metres, is completely alight.

As the fire can be seen from the A13 we’ve received a high number of calls to it – rest assured we are in attendance and dealing with it.

This is an ongoing incident. More information will be added when it is available.

YT has received footage that indicates there is a large fire in a building at the back of Bannatynes Leisure on Howard Road in Chafford Hundred.

Fire crews are in attendance.
