FA Trophy Third Qualifying Round
East Thurrock United 3 v 4 Cheshunt
Report courtesy of East Thurrock United
TWO added time goals gave the home side fans some late consolation, and made the final score look interesting, but in all fairness Cheshunt had this tie wrapped up well before the Rocks late burst.
After an even opening half hour, Cheshunt took the lead when Jamie Reynolds burst clear to fire past Arthur Janata, and Taylor McKenzie doubled the visitors lead with a looping header on the stroke of half time.
Rocks pressed forward on the restart, but were caught on the break by Reece Beckles-Richards who beat the offside trap to make it 3-0 on 50 minutes.
Almost immediately Callum Taylor intercepted a poor pass to run on and score his first goal for the Rocks.
Alfie Cue, Jon Nzengo and Izzy Bademosi all went close for the home side, but Cheshunt grabbed a fourth through Derek Asamoah.
Rocks did score injury time goals through Luke Illsley and Bademosi, but the final whistle stopped an unlikely revival going any further.
