RESIDENTS of Grays, supported by Thurrock Council, were in action this morning (Saturday, 10 April) helping clean up part of the town.
Thurrock Nub News caught up with a group of volunteers in the William Street area where Jaqueline Williams, secretary of the Orchards Community Forum what they were doing.
“Obviously Covid has put a stop for some time to what we are doing but with restrictions now lifting it’s great to be back out.
“We started to do this a couple of years ago and when we started we would fill up several lorries each weekend.
“Now we have got on top of it we can cope with one truck when we get out and I should make point of thanking Thurrock Council for supporting us.
“We’ve managed to clear up four or five alleyways this morning. It’s good to be back out and meeting up with friends. We have a lot of fun doing this and it’s great to be giving some back to our community by keeping it tidy.”
