THURROCK Council urgently need Foster Carers to come forward to help some of the most vulnerable children and young people in Thurrock.
Thurrock Council wants all children and young people in its care to have a safe home in which they will be loved, nurtured and can thrive, when family and friends are not able to care for them.
People who foster for Thurrock can…
- Either live within or in surrounding areas of Thurrock
- Be any age over 21
- Be married , single , divorced, or in a civil partnership
- Be LGBTQ+
- Rent or own their home
- Have a disability
- Be of any ethnicity, race, religion or culture
- Either have their own children or not
We know that people can be hesitant to come forward and take the next step to foster, and need some encouragement or re-assurance that they will receive a quick and sensitive response with answers to any initial questions they may have. Thurrock offers excellent support and guidance to our Foster Carers both from our Supervising Social Workers and also our current experienced Foster Carers.
Thurrock Council needs carers for children of all ages, as a Foster Carer for Thurrock you will receive ongoing and regular supervision, support and training alongside a competitive financial package with additional benefits including an exemption on your council tax payments for Thurrock residents.
Foster Carers can provide care on a short-term or respite basis whilst plans are made for children to return home to their birth families, or relatives. Alternatively, as a Foster Carer you can provide care on a long-term basis where the child will become part of your family until they are ready to leave home, and in many cases throughout their adult life too.
Foster carer Jackie, who has been a Foster Carer for 9 years says
“Providing stability and security to a child and seeing them reach their potential is such a wonderful experience. .
If you think you could foster then just go for it and definitely choose Thurrock, then once approved connect with the other carers and they will support and help you.”
