Applications open for the Community Environmental Development Fund

RESIDENTS and community organisations with innovative ideas on how to improve their local area can once again apply for capital funding under Thurrock Council’s Community Environmental Development Fund (CEDF).

Applications to apply for CEDF grant funding of up to £75,000 towards community-led initiatives opened on Monday 24 May. Any projects put forward should demonstrate certain criteria including that they meet a community need in Thurrock and have long-term benefits.

Completed applications must be received by midnight on Monday 2 August.

Cllr Deb Huelin, Cabinet Member for Communities, said: “Since 2016, the CEDF has provided much-needed grants to community schemes which have proved vital to Thurrock and its residents.

“More than 50 schemes have already benefitted from the fund. This includes East Thurrock Community Association which was awarded a grant in 2019/20 for improvements towards their building to reduce energy consumption and environmental impact; and Thurrock Play Network was given funding in 2019/20 for the Pyramid Resource Centre refurbishment and expansion, providing a creative resource and inclusive environment for the local community.”

“I would encourage residents and community groups who have a capital project in need of some support to come forward and apply for a grant.”

Online Q&A sessions will be hosted by the council’s Communities Team via Microsoft Teams to answer any queries:

· Thursday 27 May from 3pm to 4.30pm
· Monday 7 June from 10am to 11.30am
