Amazon in Tilbury supports Tower Hamlets Foodbank

THE Amazon fulfilment centre in Tilbury has donated three food pallets to a foodbank that supports the community in Tower Hamlets.

Women’s Inclusive Team is a charity that works to create a community where black and ethnic minority women and their families are happy, safe and valued.

Following the outbreak of COVID-19, the charity set up a community kitchen and foodbank to help the most vulnerable residents in Tower Hamlets. The charity has been recently honoured with The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service.

Carlos Guijarro Benito, General Manager at Amazon in Tilbury, said: “We are pleased to make this donation to Women’s Inclusive Team, a charity doing important work in the Tower Hamlets community.”

Safia Jama, CEO of Women’s Inclusive Team, added: “On behalf of everyone at Women’s Inclusive Team, I would like to thank Carlos and the team at Tilbury for this donation. These donations help us provide essential services to the most vulnerable in Tower Hamlets.”

Community donations are one of a number of ways in which Amazon is supporting communities across the UK during COVID-19.

Amazon is providing disadvantaged students with online STEM courses as well as teaming up with charity partner Magic Breakfast and delivering more four million healthy breakfasts to families around the UK.
