Grays Athletic forge partnership with Hathaway Academy

GRAYS Athletic Community Football Club and the Hathaway Academy have announced a partnership that will help to improve sports provision across the Academy and local community.

The partnership will give students the opportunity to participate in club events such as mascot and match reporter days. They will also have the opportunity to represent the club over the weekend in both boys and girls football.

The club and the PE department at Hathaway have discussed possible ways of working together and engaging the whole community in the club and academy through events and other future collaborations.
Hathaway aim to support Grays Athletic in their campaign to return home and bring the club back home to a purpose built community sports facility.

Kieran Field, PE teacher at the Hathaway Academy has said: “My aim when I joined the Academy was to setup a community sports partnership with Grays Athletic. Grays Athletic have rich history including their memorable FA Trophy wins at Villa Park and Upton Park and we look forward to working with them over the course of new season.”

Ross Butler, Faculty Coordinator at the Hathaway Academy has added “Personal development and encouraging a lifelong love for sport and physical activity is something we strive to uphold at Hathaway. We believe that students should have the opportunity to enjoy a wide range of extra-curricular activities and sport to support their own personal development alongside their studies at Hathaway. We are really excited to be developing this partnership and look forward to working with Grays Athletic in the many years to come”.

Sarah Smallbone, Schools Liaison officer for Grays Athletic said “The club is thrilled to be developing partnerships with local schools and are delighted to add Hathaway Academy, a school within our catchment area, to the list. The school has been very enthusiastic about building a relationship with us and we look forward to working with them in the future. We’re excited about the upcoming season where we will continue to work with primary and secondary schools, colleges and the wider community”.
