Football: East Thurrock hit for five

THERE was a mood of optimism on the back of some great FA Cup performances for East Thurrock when they ran out at Coles Park in the Isthmian Premier against Haringey and things looked to be heading in the right direction when Johnny Ashman gave the Rocks a 13th minute lead which they held at the break.

But it all went wrong in the second half with a remarkable collapse.

Georgios Aresty put Borough level on 50 minutes and then two goals in two minutes, the second a penalty on the hour, from one time Rock Roman Michael-Percil put the hosts in the driving seat.

Alfred Bawling added a fourth on 66 minutes and Callum Robinson rounded off a miserable late afternoon for the Rocks when he put through his own goal on 68 minutes.
