Football: East Thurrock slump to another defeat

Isthmian Premier

East Thurrock United 0 v 2 Leatherhead

TWO teams at the bottom end of the league table battled it out at Rookery Hill, in a tight and scrappy game. As expected, the game was end to end in the first half, with both teams hardly taking control of the match.

East Thurrock were forced to make an early substitution, with Ryan Mallett coming off with an injury. Leatherhead looked the better side coming up to the end of the first half, with their Striker Chidubem Onokwai coming close after a good run into East Thurrock’s 18-yard box and another from a corner. Ben Wyss was doing well down the right flank for East Thurrock, with his pace and skill.

An entertaining half to come, with East Thurrock getting their first corner of the game in the 57th minute. Followed by a decent strike from Rocks striker Alex Hernandez testing the keeper from far range.

Two quick goals from Leatherhead settled the game, a double from substitute Aderi Dede finished The Rocks hopes. The second goal much better than the first footballing wise. In the 83rd minute, the first goal went in because of a goal-line tussle causing him to poke the ball home past the keeper. An unlucky goal for The Rocks. Next up is another home game on Tuesday 9th November 7:45 against Lewes.
