Success for Thurrock in East Region Winter Champs

SWIMMERS from Thurrock Swimming Club participated in this years East Region Winter Championships. This championship was an open meet where all ages competed against each other.

Once again, Thurrock swimmers performed superbly, achieving personal best times, made finals and achieve national winter qualifying times.

Ben Minister achieved personal best times in the 200 back and 400IM. Bryony Edgings achieved a personal best time in the 100 back and in the 50m free in the relays. Colin Moghina equalled his personal bests in all of his events having just returned from illness.

Daisy Patterson swam a best time in the 50m backstroke. Elise Delapperall swam just outside of her best times but set personal bests in the freestyle and medley relays. Ethan Martin swam best times in the 50 fly and 100 back and equalled his best time in his other events. Francesca Key achieved a best time in the 50m breast and set season bests in the 200 & 400IM.

Harrison Jarvis set a best time in the 200 breast making the senior finals. He just missed out on his national qualifying time by 0.7 secs. He also smashed his 100IM PB. Henry Dean had a great weekend, achieving best times in the 100 & 200 fly and 50m free. He just missed out on the national qualifying time in a few events even though he is a year under age.

Jenson Hurrell achieved best times in the 200IM, 50 free100 back, 50 fly, 50 back and 200 back. Jenson’s 200 back was a 3 second PB which qualified him for this year’s national winter champs. Jimmy Taylor was in great form achieving best times in the 50, 100 & 200 fly and 100 free. Joshua Shepherd, one of the youngest competitors at 13, achieved best times in the 50, 100 & 200 fly. Kevin Moghina, also 13, achieved a best time in the 50 free. Mia Ward was just outside of her PB in the 200 back.

Nikita Charykin was in awesome form, achieving best times in the 100, 200 & 400IM, 100 and 200 fly and back. As well as making the top 8 in the 400IM, 200 back and 200 fly, he now qualifies for 7 events at the national championships. Olivia Church swam well, achieving best times in the 50 & 100 free, 100 & 200 fly. Radost Milkova achieved season best times in the 50 & 100 back. Daniel Boboye smashed his 100 breast best time and also the 50m breast.

The relay teams consisting of Elise Delapperall, Bryony Edgings, Francesca Key, Olivia Church , Radost MIlkova, Harrison Jarvis, Jimmy Taylor, Colin Moghina, Ethan Martin and Jenson Hurrell swam exceptionally well, finishing in the top 10.
