THE Thurrock community came together this past weekend to pay their respects on Remembrance Day.
A number of events at locations including Stanford-le-Hope, Grays, Orsett, Corringham, South Ockendon and Tilbury on Sunday 14 November saw residents pay their respects to those who lost their lives in conflict.
Cllr Rob Gledhill, Leader of Thurrock Council, said: “After the restrictions of lockdown this time last year, it was a privilege to see people come together safely to remember and pay our respects as a community.
“As always, our history in Thurrock is incredibly important to us, and we will never forget the sacrifice of those who gave their lives fighting for our rights and our freedoms.
“I had the honour of attending a special memorial event on Sunday 14 November, at the Grays Memorial in the High Street, and paying my respects in person alongside the Mayor of Thurrock, Cllr Sue Shinnick. This year and every year, we will remember them.”
