Ortu schools visited by local MP on Armistice Day

ORTU Schools were honoured to be visited by Stephen Metcalfe MP on Remembrance Day, 11th November.

The local Member of Parliament attended Ortu Gable Hall, Hassenbrook Academy and Corringham primary school to commemorate Remembrance Day.

Mr Ceri Evans Principal said: “I was delighted to attend a particularly thoughtful service and see all of our students remembering those who have fought hard and served to defend our democratic freedoms and way of life. All who were involved can be very proud.”

“It is so important that the sacrifices made on our behalf are never forgotten. It is very encouraging that today’s young people continue to recognise that and take an active part in Remembrance.”

Stephen Metcalfe MP said: “I was delighted to have been invited to visit all three Ortu schools today to see how they have been coping with Covid and to hear about their ambitious recovery plans. Each of the schools offers a broad curriculum reflecting the students interests and the wider needs of the community. It was so brilliant to see students fully engaged and learning again in a classroom environment, and all on such a poignant and important day.

“On behalf of all the parents and students, I want to thank the team at Gable Hall, Hassenbrook and Corringham Primary for all their dedication and care towards the students during what must have been a very difficult 18 months.”
