Purfleet-on-Thames Community Forum recognised by Mayor

A PLEASANT surprise for Purfleet-on-Thames Community Forum to receive a certificate of recognition from our Mayor Cllr. Sue Shinnick.

The forum actively strives to keep residents informed on local issues, regeneration of the area and updates from the council.

Our three local councillors are very supportive of the forum and their activities. They attend most meetings where residents can raise their concerns and have their say with them. During lockdown when open meetings were not possible the forum kept people informed with newsletters and progressed to virtual meetings. Recent forum activities include the installation of an impressive 14 metre memorial to the soldiers from Purfleet who gave their lives during the First World War. Arranging and funding festive street lighting and after two years interacting with Clean and Green Services at Thurrock Council have arranged for five new benches to be installed along the riverside footpath, an early Christmas present for locals and visitors.

Next year the forum will be taking part in national beacon lighting celebrations on 2nd June to mark the Queens Platinum Jubilee. If anybody, group or organisation wish to be involved please contact Trevor Batchelor vicechair.POTCF@thurrockforums.org
