A FORMER ambulance station is set to be demolished to make way from three new homes.

An application has been submitted to Thurrock Council to replace Corringham ambulance station in Giffords Cross Road with two-storey homes.

The station, on part of a medical centre site, has been empty since last year and has since been used for storage.

A number of mature trees on the boundary of the site include a mix of mature ash, sycamore, and false acacia. They will be preserved by developers, Loughton-based Secureland Developments who will also install protective fencing for the trees.

The new homes will have garages, parking and landscaping.

The station was built in 1975 on a former allotment site.
