A SCHOOLin Stanford-Le-Hope has received a £1,000 donation from the Amazon fulfilment centre in Tilbury.
The donation was made to Ortu Hassenbrook Academy, a school that creates a learning community where pupils feel challenged and valued and are celebrated for their successes in improving performance and reaching potential.
The donation from Amazon has been put towards the creation of a sensory room for students who have additional needs, and a group of these students were involved in the design and renovation of the previously unused office space.
Ruzanna Sargsyan, General Manager at Amazon in Tilbury, said:
“Amazon is passionate about supporting young people in our community and we hope this donation helps Ortu Hassenbrook Academy continue to provide an excellent standard of education for its pupils.”
Louise Knowles, Trainee SENCo at Ortu Hassenbrook Academy, added:
“We appreciate this gesture of support from Ruzanna and the team at Amazon in Tilbury and the donation is welcomed by everyone at Ortu Hassenbrook Academy. The opportunity to create a safe, calm and familiar space within our mainstream school that will support those students with additional needs is a vital step towards our inclusive vision.”
The donation to Ortu Hassenbrook Academy was made as part of Amazon’s programme to support the communities in and around its operating locations across the UK.
Amazon is providing disadvantaged students with online STEM courses as well as teaming up with charity partner Magic Breakfast and delivering more than five million healthy breakfasts to families in England.
