AVELEY have returned to the top of the Isthmian Premier thanks to a 3-1 home win against Margate.

With several teams in the top bracket of the table engaged in or sidelined by the FA Cup third qualifying round, the Millers took full advantage, despite playing much of the match with ten men.

Kenny Aileru had already given the home side the lead before Blaise Riley-Snow picked up two cards in quick succession and was sent off after just 19 minutes.

That didn’t hamper Millers too much – just five minutes later George Sykes put them two up.

And Brendon Shabani added a third just after the half hour.

Cameron Brodie pulled one back for the Kent side on the stroke of half time but they were unable to make any further headway in the second half as Millers held on for a memorable win, witnessed by a crowd of 331.
