THANK you to everyone who donated a Christmas present to this year’s #GiveAGift.
Cllr Barry Johnson, Cabinet Member for Children’s Services and Education said: “It is due to the public’s generosity that this project is a great success and we ensure that Thurrock children in need have a present to open on Christmas morning. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, to everyone who has donated via the Amazon Wishlist or at one of our drop of locations this year.
“Thank you to all of the local businesses who have made very generous donations including: HW Wilson Ltd, South Essex Insurance Brokers, Strollercise UK, Amazing Solutions Ltd, Axis, Tracey, Chris and friends at the 1:1 Diet, Goldsmiths and Sons UK Ltd, and the Mayor of Thurrock’s charity.
“Also a huge thank you to Impulse Leisure, Grays Police Station and KidEco for being drop off locations to support #GiveAGift.
“Finally, thank you to all of the council officers who have volunteered to support the wrapping and delivery of all presents, and Thurrock Police Cadets who volunteered one evening to wrap.”
Karl Hayes, Managing Director at Impulse Leisure, said: “As a registered charity, Impulse Leisure are proud to work with all sectors of our community. As soon as Thurrock Council approached us about the #GiveAGift campaign, we recognised what a fantastic idea it was and offered our support.
“The generosity of the people of Thurrock during these difficult times never ceases to amaze us and we’ve collected a substantial number of gifts via donations and our Membership Offer. We are delighted to be able to help put a smile on young faces that otherwise might have missed out.”
Donations have now closed, and the project team are busy ensuring presents are wrapped and then hand delivered by the child’s social worker in time for Christmas day.
