Gable Hall and Hassenbrook disappointed as government rejects alliance with Gateway

ORTU Federation Trustees have expressed their disappointment to the parents of Hassenbrook Academy and Corringham Primary School that their choice of Trust, the Gateway Learning Community Trust [GLC], has been rejected by the Department for Education.  Despite the support of Stephen Metcalfe MP, the Minister for Schools, Nick Gibb, was not persuaded of the benefits of the trustees’ choice.

Ortu trustees will work with the Department for Education to find a suitable Multi Academy Trust that will support both schools to achieve their aims and vision.  Trustees are still aiming to move both schools to a new trust or trusts for the start of the new academic year.

Ortu’s Chair of Trustees, Georgina Clark, said: ‘We would like to take the opportunity to thank colleagues at the GLC for their professional generosity in stepping forward to support local schools.

“In the few months the GLC has been involved with Hassenbrook and Corringham, trusted links have been established which have already had a positive impact on provision.

“I am pleased that these links will remain in place albeit outside of a formal partnership’.
