SOME people in local politics are just class acts. That is why some go on to the “next level” and enter the national scene.
Val Morris-Cook was a former deputy leader of Thurrock Council and did, a few years ago, consider standing for parliament.
A few years ago, Val stood down due to work commitments so it is good to see her back. From litter to lower Thames Crossing, Valerie always seemed to capture the mood and set the tone.
Labour need serious and substantial politicians in Thurrock in order to challenge the Tories and, one day, take over.
They have been out of power since 2016 and there is still a hint of happier in opposition about them. They need to take the council back over in the next few years.
With political heavyweights such as Val, they have a chance.
YT Prediction: Labour Hold
