Football: East Thurrock win first game of the season

Isthmian League North

East Thurrock 2 v 0 Wroxham

THE game started off with a high tempo and the Rocks were on the front foot. A couple of dangerous crosses well cleared by the Wroxham defence. Wroxham also put in a dangerous cross with the striker heading just over the upright. The Rocks put in a dangerous curling cross from Olukolu which target man Odukoya couldn’t beat Wroxham keeper Ollie Sutton to. A low cross from Wroxham couldn’t be converted by Josh Harvey who skied his shot; the best chance of the game up to this point. Kileba had a powerful shot at Suttons near post which the Wroxham keeper saved well with his feet.

George Cox was booked by referee Alexander Ship for a strong challenge but from view of fans, won the ball. Olukolu stung Suttons palms as his powerful shot was tipped over the bar. Wroxham earn’t themselves a freekick on the edge of the box which was low and powerful but just wide.

A goal for the Rocks on 42 minutes from Odukoya as he headed in from close range following on from a Camilo Restrepo cross. A nasty foul from Mackie on Restrepo lead to a close range Rocks free kick which again stung Suttons hands as he parried the ball but nobody could score the follow up. Odukoya slipped into the stand which could’ve been serious but luckily he wasn’t injured and okay to carry on.
