Five arrests made by Operational Support Group

FIVE more people have been arrested by our Operational Support Group, including one man wanted on suspicion of rape.

The Operational Support Group (OSG) operates across Essex, supporting local officers with their expertise with firearms, drugs, dog units and roads policing.

One arrest made by these officers yesterday, Saturday 11 May, was for a man wanted on suspicion of rape. He was arrested by our officers at an address in Ipswich.

One car was stopped by officers after it was believed to be connected to an outstanding sex offender, and the driver was arrested for breaching their Sexual Harm Prevention Order.

Another man was stopped on our roads due to his dangerous driving. He was arrested for driving without insurance and also failed a roadside drugs test, so officers seized his vehicle.

Two more men with outstanding warrants for their arrests were detained in separate incidents.

Chief Inspector Steve Scott Haynes said: “OSG officers are regularly out looking for wanted suspects, no matter where in Essex or our surrounding counties that takes them.

“Between these arrests they’ll be on our roads making sure drivers are staying safe. They will be supporting our local officers in your communities.

“We look forward to another varied day today.”
