Dogs Trust celebrate its tenth birthday

HAVING opened its doors in 2014, Dogs Trust Basildon has had an enormous impact finding homes for over 6000 dogs and seeing more than 200 puppies born at the rehoming centre.

The centre is currently home to 80 dogs searching for their forever home, including dogs currently being cared for in foster homes across Essex.

As well as rehoming thousands of dogs, Dog Trust Basildon is also home to Dog School, which supports hundreds of owners each year with advice and training for their dogs.

In response to the cost of living crisis and the impact it has had on local dog owners, Dogs Trust Basildon is now also home to a pet food bank which can be accessed for free by those owners struggling to meet the cost of caring for their pets.

Dogs Trust Basildon has even played host to a live TV show! Last year, its training barn was transformed into a live TV studio for Channel 5’s Lost Dogs Live, presented by TV star and dog lover, Clare Balding.

Lisa Cooper, Manager at Dogs Trust Basildon said: ‘We’re incredibly proud to celebrate all that we have achieved over the last 10 years. We have found homes for thousands of dogs and supported owners through Dog School and many of our other services.

‘At Dogs Trust, it’s not just about rehoming, we’re here for every step of a dog’s journey, from finding loving families to offering expert advice.

‘A big thank you to everyone connected to our centre – staff, volunteers, adopters, and supporters! Here is to the future and continuing to make a difference together!’

One of the dogs currently looking for their forever home at Dogs Trust Basildon is Dotty the Lurcher. Dotty loves nothing more than snuggling up on the sofa and watching TV and is the perfect house guest.

Being a lurcher she loves fluffy toys and will chase them and carry them around. Dotty loves meeting new people and is very friendly to all she meets and will happily greet visitors without jumping. Dotty can live with children (aged 11+) and is looking to
be the only animal in the house.
