THURROCK Mayor, Cllr Kairen Raper has raised over £800 to help support Thurrock Foodbank.

Cllr Raper recently hosted an afternoon tea party at Stifford Hall Hotel, which brought together dignitaries from other local councils with people from across the borough to raise money for the mayor’s chosen charity, Thurrock Foodbank.

Thurrock Foodbank was set up in 2012 and now provides help to residents in ten locations across the borough.

Donations will be made to Thurrock Foodbank throughout the year by the mayor.

Cllr Raper said: “Supporting Thurrock Foodbank is essential to meet the increasing demands on food banks.

“I have decided to provide donations as and when money is raised, as every contribution helps to ensure that people within the community are supported when they need it most.

“I am delighted that as a community we managed to raise £822.00 from my afternoon tea party, and I look forward to other opportunities and events in the coming months.”
