THURROCK MP Jen Craft rose on the floor of the House of Commons to contribute to a debate on imposing VAT to private schools.
Ms Craft said: “As a parent of a disabled child, the issue of SEND education in this country is very important to me, as it is to a number of my friends and acquaintances.
Let us be clear that the SEND system in this country is broken, and it was the actions of the previous Government that left us with parents being desperate and having to search for alternatives to mainstream education for their children.
The vast majority of my constituents who find themselves without suitable education placements for their children, for reasons of disability or educational needs, are unable to afford to send their children to a private school.
“Does the Minister agree with me that perpetuating a system of inequality is not the solution for our broken SEND system?”
