Lynne Morgan, CEO, Thurrock and Brentwood Mind: ‘We’re excited to announce the launch of our very first Mental Elf Fun Run and walk, a special event designed to bring individuals and families together in support of mental health awareness. This festive fun goes beyond fitness—it’s about building community, encouraging open conversations about mental health, and creating an environment where everyone feels supported. We can’t wait to see people of all ages unite for a day of fun, laughter, and a shared commitment to prioritising mental and well-being for everyone.’

Running or walking can help us switch off from everyday pressures, relieve stress and give us time to clear our heads. When you exercise, you release ‘feel good’ hormones called endorphins which can help reduce negative feelings and improve your mood. It’s a natural way of reducing levels of cortisol, often known as the ‘stress hormone’, which has been linked to a range of mental health problems, including depression and anxiety.
Joining our fun, inclusive 2.5k/5k family fun runs is a great opportunity to boost your mental and physical health while also raising vital funds to help us in our fight to make sure everyone in Thurrock and Brentwood with a mental health problem gets the support and respect they deserve.”
