CHRISTMAS is just around the corner and Vue Thurrock is getting into the festive spirit by bringing a selection of classic films back to the big screen this December.
Kicking things off is The Muppet Christmas Carol, starring Michael Caine stars as the miserable old miser Ebenezer. This Muppet-y makeover includes turns from Kermit the Frog as Bob Cratchit, Miss Piggy as his long-suffering wife, Statler and Waldorf as the spectral Marley brothers.

Celebrating its 25th anniversary, How the Grinch Stole Christmas will be returning to the big screen this weekend. Travel back to the magical world of Whoville, where the grumpy, green Grinch hatches a plan to stop Christmas from coming – unless the Whos can change his mind.
Also returning this weekend are the first two Home Alone films. In the original movie, eight-year-old Kevin McCallister must protect his house from two sneaky burglars after he’s accidentally left behind when his family goes on holiday.
In Home Alone 2: Lost in New York, Kevin once again finds himself alone at Christmas – this time in the big city, with the same crooks not far behind him.
For younger audiences, Vue’s Mighty Mornings will be returning over the Christmas break. These special screenings for 4 to 11-year-olds start from just £2.49 when booked online. The Magic Reindeer will be shown in the first week of the break, followed by The King of Kings in the second week.
Meanwhile, for pre-schoolers, Paw Patrol Christmas andCBeebies Panto 2025: Cinderella are both showing as part of Vue’s Big Shorts, with brighter lighting and a more relaxed environment offering an ideal way to introduce little ones to the big screen experience.
For lovers of classical music, Andre Rieu’s 2025 Christmas Concert: Merry Christmas, will be waltzing onto the big screen, along with the Royal Ballet & Opera production of The Nutcracker.
For older audiences the likes of Love Actually, The Holiday and Die Hard will all be making an appearance.
Millie Bridgeman, General Manager at Vue Thurrock, said: “Nothing captures the spirit of Christmas quite like cosying up in front of your favourite festive film in the run up to Christmas Day. This year we’ve a fantastic line-up at Vue, with something for everyone to enjoy.”
