“The speeds we’re seeing are unacceptable”
A police spokesperson said: “Our Roads Policing teams have been out across Essex tackling dangerous speeding and keeping people safe, especially as traffic builds up before Christmas.

Last week, officers enforced limits and spoke with drivers at key locations, including school sites. Highlights include:
A130 – highest speed recorded 127mph
A13 – shocking 130mph
A414 – new 50mph limit enforced, 180 vehicles checked
School sites in Shenfield and Basildon – positive engagement with drivers
In total, 568 offences were recorded.
Adam Pipe, Head of Roads Policing, said:
“The speeds we’ve seen are unacceptable. Our teams will continue to be out across Essex targeting those who pose a risk, particularly over the Christmas period. Please slow down – it could save a life.”
