Help on hand for Basildon Dementia Day

BASILDON Council is running a Dementia Day offering help and support for residents caring for someone with dementia, or living with a person with dementia on Thursday, 21 May at the George Hurd Centre, 22 Audley Way, Basildon SS14 2FL from 10.30am-1.30pm.

The event is free and there is no need to book.

Expert advice will be available with an opportunity to speak to many of the expert support organisations attending who will be able to signpost for further information.


The wide range of topics will include Dementia support, Carer Support, Community Transport, Home care providers, Community Help and wellbeing and Young onset dementia support.

Organisations attending on the day include Alzheimer’s Society, Community Agents Essex, Carers First, Basildon Community Transport, Healthwatch Essex, Home instead – Basildon, Kinder Essex, Peaceful Place, Radfield Care, Caremark, Essex Home Help Service and Essex Library Services.

A council spokesperson said:

“The number of people living with dementia is increasing with projections indicating 1.6 million people in the UK by 2040 so it’s important residents feel supported and are aware of the range of services that are available to them locally.

“This event will help those affected by dementia by providing information and awareness of local services and help managing what can be a very challenging condition.”
