LIDL has announced a proposal to build a new store in Tilbury. The supermarket retailer recently released information online about the multi-million investment scheme being situated in an area off Chad’s Road, covering the Bumble’s Yard horse stable site.

The proposal consists of the new chain with 127 parking spaces, 40 new job opportunities, enhanced environmental features, and landscaping. Environmental features include solar (photovoltaic) panels on the roof while landscaping features include tree-planting and soft landscaping.

According to the online proposal, the intended main site access would be constructed from St Chad’s Road with the current access being closed and reinstated as a foot and cycleway. The designated site has not been allocated by the council for development in the past as it is on a green belt.

A planning application has not been submitted to Thurrock Council as of yet. However, Lidl stated a public consultation will be held this month for Tilbury and Chadwell St Mary residents before a final proposal will be presented.

  1. Fantastic news !
    I’m already counting days.
I just can’t wait to see the gigantic building emerge and for me start shopping there . Luckily , it’s just minutes away from us.
Similarly , it’s a great save on cost on my fuel journey to Southockendon where I’ve been going to shop for the past 15years!
Lastly, I’m so pleased as , it will boost growth and put Chadwell / Tilbury houses up for better value properties and social / communal living.

A Big Thanks to the initiator of this project .
God bless you more and cause Lidl to prosperously flourish in this new location
