TWO men will appear in court following an incident in Grays.
Shortly before 1pm on Wednesday 13 November, officers were conducting enquiries at an address in Grays on an unrelated matter.
Whilst there, two men attended the location.
Upon seeing police, they ran off. As officers attempted to detain the pair, two officers were assaulted: one officer was punched to the face.
Mark Cooper, 20 of Gammonfields Way, Grays, was arrested on suspicion of two counts of assault on an emergency worker, criminal damage and possession of cannabis.
The second man, Cailan Johnston, 20, of no fixed abode, was arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon.
Both men will appear at Southend-on-Sea Magistrates’ Court on 2 December.
