ST. Luke’s Hospice welcomed the local community to a very special Garden Party this weekend [Saturday 14th July] at its Thurrock hospice, marking the start of a summer of celebration for the charity.
The Garden Party is one of two special events organised by the Hospice to commemorate the 35th anniversary of welcoming their first patient, and to thank all those who have supported its journey.

Guests included the Mayor of Thurrock Sue Shinnick, the former CEO of St. Luke’s Hospice Barry Samson, Hospice Trustees past and present, supporters, partners and both established and new friends.
To mark the occasion, Eileen Marshall, CEO of St. Luke’s Hospice, Chair of Trustees Gerry Peaty and the former CEO of the Hospice, Barry Sansom, planted a commemorative tree in the grounds of the Hospice.

Family-friendly entertainment, stalls from local businesses, the showing of a special staff memories film and refreshments were enjoyed by all. Visitors were also welcome to view a beautiful Sunflower Meadow – a display of iron-work sunflowers, which have been purchased by supporters to help raise money for the Hospice.
St. Luke’s Hospice is inviting everyone to continue the celebrations at its next anniversary Garden Party, on Saturday 5th July 12pm-4pm at its Basildon Hospice.
Entrance to the Garden Party is FREE and there will be a range of stalls, entertainment and ceremonial activities.
