MEMBERS of Thurrock’s NPAIC group have expressed support for an extraordinary Council meeting to allow elected members to discuss and vote on the proposals for upcoming Local Government Reorganisation as the deadline draws near.

The five councillors have done so in the interest of maintaining accountability and transparency, and hope that a vote by elected members will empower residents of Thurrock to remain informed on discussions around local government and make informed decisions themselves.
Councillor Neil Speight, spokesperson for the group, adds: “This is a hugely important issue, and it is paramount that residents know how their ward councillors vote on the matter.” Councillor Speight has invited the leader to present the chosen option for elected members to discuss.
