JAMES McMurdock, Member of Parliament for South Basildon and East Thurrock, has praised the staff and pupils of East Tilbury Primary School following a visit to celebrate the school’s achievement of the highly regarded OPAL Platinum Award.
Mr McMurdock visited the school to meet with pupils, teachers and school leaders to see first-hand the innovative outdoor play and learning environment.
He said, “it was a pleasure to visit East Tilbury Primary School and to congratulate the team on achieving the OPAL Platinum Award. This is an outstanding achievement and reflects the true dedication and hard work of everyone involved.”

During the visit, Mr McMurdock spoke with OPAL staff about the impact of the programme, as well as the benefits it brings to the school community.
“The passion and enthusiasm shown by the staff is clear to see, and the pupils clearly benefit from the school’s investment in their outside spaces and play opportunities. East Tilbury Primary school should be incredibly proud of what they have achieved.”
Mr McMurdock reaffirmed his support for schools across his constituency that continue to innovate and prioritise the wellbeing and development of their pupils.
