ALDI has confirmed that all 1,060 of its UK stores will be closed for three days during the festive period.
This would include all Essex stores including the branches in Chelmsford, Colchester, Clacton-on-Sea, Southend, Westcliff, Harlow, Wickford, Benfleet, Pitsea, Maldon and Shenfield.

The discount supermarket chain have released a comprehensive Christmas and New Year opening hours for 2025.
The German retailer will maintain regular trading hours throughout the pre-Christmas period, allowing shoppers ample time to stock up on festive essentials.
Stores will operate normally until Tuesday, December 23, before implementing an early closing time of 6pm on Christmas Eve to enable staff to begin their holiday celebrations.
Following the Christmas Eve early closure, all Aldi locations across the United Kingdom will remain shut for both Christmas Day and Boxing Day, December 25 and 26.
This extended closure period has been implemented to ensure employees can enjoy a well-deserved break with their families during the festive season.
Normal service will resume from Saturday, December 27, when stores reopen at 8am.
Trading will continue as usual through the remainder of the year, with stores maintaining regular hours until closing early at 6pm on New Year’s Eve, December 31.
The supermarket chain will then observe one final closure on New Year’s Day, January 1, 2026, before returning to standard operating hours on Friday, January 2.
The detailed schedule shows varying opening times throughout the period, with stores operating extended hours of 7am to 10pm on December 22 and 23, then reverting to shorter Sunday hours of 10am to 4pm on December 28. Weekday trading between December 29 and 30 will run from 8am to 8pm, while Saturday, December 27, will see stores open from 8am to 8pm.
Aldi has advised customers to verify their local store’s specific opening times online, as some locations may have variations to these standard hours depending on regional circumstances.
